The N.C. Senate on June 25 appointed William “Brian” Allen of Wake County to the UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Trustees.

Allen fills the opening left by Brad Briner, who now serves as North Carolina Treasurer. His term is effective immediately and runs through June 30, 2027.

Allen, a Wake County resident, is a lifelong North Carolinian with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Campbell University. He has served as president of Cary-based Precision Walls, a commercial construction company his parents founded, for more than two decades.

During his leadership, Precision Walls has consistently ranked among the Engineering News-Record’s top 10 wall and ceiling specialty contractors in the nation. In 2019, Allen oversaw the company’s transition to a 100% employee-owned model.

“I am honored for the opportunity to serve on the Board and help build a strong future for UNC-Chapel Hill and the next generation of North Carolinians,” Allen said. “I love North Carolina and believe our state is growing and prospering because of our higher education system. I’m excited to bring my private sector experience managing people-focused companies to support the University’s commitment to student excellence and success.”

The 15-member Board of Trustees serves to promote the sound development of the University, help it perform at a high level of excellence, serve the people of North Carolina and advise the UNC System Board of Governors and Chancellor Lee H. Roberts about the University’s management.

The Senate also reappointed Marty Kotis ’91 to the board, and the N.C. House of Representatives reappointed Vinay B. Patel. Both their new terms run through June 30, 2029.
