School groups can experience Carolina in many ways; our guided Sense of Place tour, our video tour and our self-guided tour.
Guided School Group Tour
Our guided Sense of Place school group walking tour is a great way for students to get a feel for a college campus. Students will learn about Carolina’s history, traditions, student life and hallmarks as well as the University’s work in public service, research and innovation. Note that this tour does not include dorms, college prep or readiness. We believe Carolina is a very special place, and we look forward to sharing it with your students.
Our school group tour isrecommended for middle school groups. High school groups should first contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at unchelp@admissions.unc.edu or 919-966-3621.
Submitting a tour request on our website does not guarantee a campus tour. Once you make a request, Visitors Center staff will send you a tour agreement form via email. The form must be printed, signed and returned via email within one week of the tour booking request. Failure to return the visit agreement form will result in forfeiting your requested tour date and time.
If we cannot accommodate your tour date, school groups are welcome to visit Carolina utilizing our self-guided tour materials, or request our school group video tour. Contact the UNC Visitors Center for details.
School Group Video Tour
The UNC Visitors Center hosts a school group video tour for sixth- to eighth-grade classrooms as supplemental material to encourage students to learn about Carolina and the role a university serves within a community. Led by current Carolina students, this video tour also serves as a fun, educational resource. From Carolina traditions to our rich history and current endeavors, students will be entertained and challenged with a bingo game that tests their Carolina knowledge after watching the video tour. Self-guided School Group Tour
School groups are welcome to visit Carolina utilizing our self-guided tour materials. Contact the UNC Visitors Center for additional information.
